OpenMRS PoC - Q&A
#1 - From among these, which encounter types could we expect to see multiple times per each patient ?
One thing we need to get in the habit of using is a time period. Are we looking at one pregnancy, one lifetime? I look at these during a lifetime.
a) Only seen once in a lifetime
- RapidSMS Notification Maternal Death
b) Seen only once during a single pregnancy, but seen multiple times due to multiple pregnancies:
- ADULTINITIAL
- ANC OB and Past Medical History
c) Seen multiple times in a single pregnancy, and seen multiple times over multiple pregnancies:
- ADULTRETURN
- ANC Physical
- ANC Testing
- ANC Maternal Treatments and Interventions
d) 1) may not be seen at all or 2) once over a single pregnancy or 2) multiple times during a single pregnancy and multiple pregnancies - dependent on each mother
- (1, 2, 3) ANC Referral Confirmation
- (1, 2, 3) ANC Referral
- (1, 2, 3) RapidSMS Notification RISK
- (2, 3)RapidSMS Notification BIRTH - Will show once if the mother only gives birth to 1 child during the first pregnancy. Will show multiple times during the first pregnancy if multiple children are delivered. Will show multiple times over a lifetime due to multiple deliveries in a lifetime.
- (2, 3)ANC Delivery Report - Will show once if the mother only gives birth to 1 child during the first pregnancy. Will show multiple times during the first pregnancy if multiple children are delivered. Will show multiple times over a lifetime due to multiple deliveries in a lifetime.
e) Exploring in more detail:
- PEDSINITIAL - Need to investigate. May not show until maternity since mother returns 7-9 days after delivery with baby
- PEDSRETURN - Need to investigate. May not show until maternity since mother returns 7-9 days after delivery with baby
- ANC - Not sure what encounter this shows with but investigating. I think it's a mistake
#2 - Four ANC Visits
- This is a major indicator for MOH reporting both for the HMIS report and performance based financing (PBF). I'm working with Michele at MOH just now to get the module for these reports.
#3 - Threshold Numbers
- I think it will be good to discuss this one on the Thursday call. I think this requires some national data from past reports as a reference, in my opinion, otherwise we're just making up our own numbers.
#4 - Review of the electronic forms and when they are used:
First-Time Visit
- Past Medical History
- Physical Exam
- Investigation
- Referral (if needed)
Return Visit
- Physical Exam
- Investigation
- Referral (if needed)
- Delivery (when needed)
#5 - For each of the four ANC visits, which encounter types are being filled out:
Context: I'm responding to this in the context that the four ANC visits are for when a mother physically arrives at the health facility (no RapidSMS messages)
1st visit
- ADULTINITIAL
- ANC OB and Past Medical History
- ANC Physical
- ANC Testing
- ANC Maternal Treatments and Interventions
- ANC Referral (dependent on condition of mother at first visit)
2nd, 3rd, 4th visit
- ADULTRETURN
- ANC Physical
- ANC Testing
- ANC Maternal Treatments and Interventions
- ANC Referral (dependent on condition of mother at visit)
- ANC Referral Confirmation (dependent on if a referral is made during any of these visits)
Delivery
- ANC Delivery Report - the 4th ANC visit is ideally the last regular checkup before the delivery, so the delivery will be its own separate encounter
